Croft is a product of Lupchoo Limited, a company registered in New Zealand (“Croft”, “we”, “us”). These terms cover your use of Croft. By signing up, you agree to them. If you’re agreeing on behalf of a business, you’re confirming you’re allowed to.

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction over any dispute - though if you’re a consumer, you keep the protections of the law where you live.

What Croft gives you

A private server (your “croft”), a login system for your workspace, and the caretaking around it - backups, updates, monitoring, and security patches. You use Claude to build and change the apps that run on your croft. Croft is the ground; Claude does the building.

You need your own account with an AI assistant (such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Grok) to build and fix apps. That relationship is between you and the assistant’s provider, under their terms.

Your trial

New crofts start with a 7-day free trial, and we don’t ask for a card to start. To carry on after the trial, add a card and your subscription begins at the current price. If you don’t, you’re never charged - but you have a 7-day grace period after the trial to add one. If no card is added by the end of that period, we delete your server and the apps on it, so export anything you want to keep before then. You can cancel any time.

Price and billing

Croft is billed per plan - Solo, Team, or Enterprise - monthly or annually (Enterprise by agreement), in advance, for one private server. Hosting is a flat price per plan, with no per-use metering on the apps you run and no surprise charges. Croft Build credits are an optional add-on, charged only if you use the built-in AI chat. See the pricing page for current plans and what each includes. If we ever change the price, we’ll tell you before it affects you. Taxes may apply depending on where you are.

Your responsibilities

• Keep your login secure and don’t share it in ways that put your people’s data at risk.
• Only add people to your croft that you have a reason to, and treat their data properly.
• Use Croft lawfully. Don’t use it to store or share illegal content, to harm others, or to break these terms.
• The apps you build are yours to run. You’re responsible for what they do and the data you put in them.

Fair use

Croft is one flat price with no usage meter. That only works if everyone uses their croft the way it’s meant to be used: for a handful of small, private apps, for people they actually know. This section is how we keep it fair - and affordable - for everyone.

Use it for what it’s for. Your croft is a small server sized for small apps and the people you invite. It isn’t bulk hosting, a content delivery network, a file locker, a public website, or a way to serve thousands of strangers. Please don’t use it as general-purpose infrastructure for something it wasn’t built for.

Go easy on the shared bits. Because there’s no meter, we ask you to be reasonable with the things every croft draws on - processing, memory, storage, bandwidth, and email. Crypto mining, large-scale scraping, heavy always-on background jobs, sending bulk or unsolicited email (spam), or anything that degrades the platform for other crofts is not fair use.

Don’t do harm, and don’t break the law. No illegal content, no malware, no phishing, no harassment, no infringing other people’s rights, and no storing other people’s personal data without a lawful reason. You’re responsible for what your apps do and for what gets put into them.

Don’t game the limits. One subscription is one croft, for you and the people you invite. Don’t resell, sublicense, or run your croft as a service for unrelated third parties; don’t share a single login among a crowd to get around the people limit; and don’t open lots of trials or accounts to avoid paying.

If you genuinely need more, just ask. Outgrowing your croft is a good problem - tell us and we’ll find you a bigger plot. Fair use is about preventing abuse, not about penalising you for succeeding.

What we’ll do if a croft crosses the line. In most cases we’ll reach out first and give you a fair chance to put things right. But if a croft threatens the platform, harms others, or breaks the law, we may throttle it, suspend it, or - for serious or repeated breaches - close it, giving as much notice as the situation reasonably allows. For clear illegal activity or active harm, we may act straight away.

Your data and content

You own your apps, your code, and your data. You grant us only the access we need to host, back up, support, and maintain your croft. You can export everything, and if you leave we’ll hand it over - a single export of each app’s code, its database, and its files, packaged to run anywhere Docker does.

Availability

We work hard to keep Croft up and your data safe, with backups and restore drills. But no service is perfect. Croft is provided “as is”, and to the extent the law allows, we don’t give warranties beyond those we can’t exclude. Keep your own copy of anything you truly can’t afford to lose - exports are always available.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to Croft is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited.

Cancelling and ending

You can cancel any time. Your apps keep running until the end of the current billing period, after which we provide an export and wind down your croft. We may end an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, giving notice and a chance to export where we reasonably can.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Croft evolves. If a change materially affects you, we’ll give reasonable notice. Continuing to use Croft after a change means you accept the updated terms.
